This is the report and resolution for the continuning work by the world indigenous youth network.

Abstract.

The idea to establish contacts, communication and exchange of information in some kind of network between indigenous youth is not something completely new. At the first World Indigenous Youth Conference the subject came up since there was felt that there was a need for such an exchange. And this was dicussed further during the second and third conferences, so the 4WIYC was given the mandate to leave suggestions for and establish a world indigenous youth network.

Main text.

The benefits of an international network is obvious, both for the organizers of conferences such as 4WIYC as well as sharing and exchanging information about problems and possible solutions.
For example have the organizer of this years conference had many difficulties finding out who to invite and where to find them. Therefore there is a lot of indigenous youth who hadn’t attended the conferences for the simple fact that they didn’t know about it’s existence. With some kind of working network this problem will be virtually nonexistent.

The very knowledge’s of other indigenous peoples life, problems and such could turn out to be a very important factor for everybody to use as a mirror for their their own life and situation.
Such information could also be used to get support or even ideas how to solve certain problems that the indigenous peoples face. We would like to suggest that we gather as many relevant names and addresses as we can to this conference - both to youth organizations and individuals. This to insure that the Indigenous people who are hard to reach can get word of it and those in need of help to come to the conference, have sufficient time to present their problems and maybe find a solution as early as possible. Our vision is that at the next conference these experiences will be used to establish and develop a more efficient network of communication. At the same time this information could be used to create and update a list of all indigenous youth organizations. In order to set up a functioning Network from the start we will at ask for names, addresses and as much information about these as possible. We will also attempt to compile more detailed information about Members of the forthcoming Network. This information will be used to determine who have skills, abilities and specialized information which can help.

All this information’s could then be passed on to the next years conference organizers. One of the first things to use this network for, is to distribute all the materials/papers who is produced on and after the 4WIYC, and therefore be an powerful tool to organize the coming years conferences.

The functioning Network is ment as an exercise to find out which benefits and obstacles there is with a Network. For this purpose the preparation of the next conference hopefully will produce good and constructive experiences. These can then be utilized to develop the Network.

The functioning Network members should report back to the next organizers who they been giving the information. All information should be translated to the needed languages, with support of all the necessary members of the Network. The next host organizers can use the functioning Network to get inspiration as to what to put on the agenda for the conference.
